Other Initiatives
Yehu supports a variety of microfranchises designed to create more significant employment opportunities for our clients. The first is a partnership with Coast Coconut Farms to make organic virgin coconut oil for use as a healthy cooking oil and also for use in high-end skin care products. Coast Coconut currently has one rural facility employing 20 and hopes to have 10 plants providing ownership and employment opportunities for hundreds of rural families.
Yehu is also working to introduce a variety of other microfranchise opportunities for its clients including bee-keeping, solar lighting systems, charcoal production and coconut oil soap and body lotion. The soap and body lotion is sold by Basa Body, a company that produces high quality, all-natural skin care products which are infused with the organic coconut oil produced by Coast Coconut Farms.
Our hope is to provide significant employment opportunities to Yehu clients that could give them the ability to make $10 to $50 per day rather than the $2 per day most currently earn in their microenterprises, while still having the ability to live in the rural areas. Yehu believes microfranchising is the next step on the development ladder to help our clients climb out of poverty and provide better opportunities for the next generation.
